Which one is crunchiest?
Line up wax balls side by side, crack them one after another and watch the meter. No mess.
1 vs 3 vs 6 layers
Tap Crack, or tap a ball, to crack them one after another.
How the meter works
Every crunch in Wax Crush is made by a small sound synthesizer in your browser, not a recording. Here each crack is rendered once before you hear it, and the meter shows the level of its loudest moment (the loudest 12 milliseconds) in decibels below full scale: the closer to 0 dB, the louder. The crunchiest ball is the one with the highest peak.
Thicker wax gives a longer, louder crack with a deeper body. Frozen wax is more brittle: it snaps into more, smaller pieces with a higher, sharper sound and a few icy ticks. The core changes the thump underneath: dull for clay, wet for slime and soft for foam. Each crack is a little different, so a close race can go either way, just like with real balls.
The numbers describe the game's sound, not a real wax ball. To make your own line-up, build balls in the game, or try the ready-made frozen and 100-layer challenge balls.
